Who we are

This is the privacy policy for greatthings.org. We take your privacy seriously and keep things simple: we collect only what we need, we don't sell your data, and we're always happy to answer questions.

What we collect

Email submissions. If you submit your email address through a form on this site, we store it so we can follow up with you. We won't spam you, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time by emailing us directly.

Nominations. If you submit a nomination through the form on this site, we collect your name, email address and relationship to the nominee; the nominee's name and email address; the story you tell us about them; any website, social media, press or file links you choose to share; and whether the nominee is comfortable being featured in the media.

Information about someone else. When you nominate someone, you are sharing their personal information with us, so please only do so if you have their permission or a good reason to believe they would be comfortable with it. We may contact the nominee or the nominator about the nomination. A nominee can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete what was submitted about them.

How long we keep nominations. We keep nomination details only for as long as we need them to review the nomination, and we delete them on request. Submissions are processed through our website provider, Webflow, and are only accessed by people at Great Things who need them to review the nomination.

Cookies and analytics. We use cookies and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use this site — things like which pages are popular and how people find us. This data is aggregated and anonymous; it doesn't identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.

What we don't do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Ever.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to respond to your messages, send you updates you've opted into, review nominations and follow up with nominators and nominees about them, and improve the site. That's it.

How we protect your data

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we do our best.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, just reach out to us directly.

Third-party services

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data. Google has its own privacy policy, which you can review at policies.google.com/privacy.

Our website and forms are hosted by Webflow, which processes form submissions on our behalf. Webflow has its own privacy policy, which you can review at webflow.com/legal/privacy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
